Lobelia inflata is specie of lobelia genus in the family of
campanulaceae. Lobelia comprises of 360-400 species.
Lobelia is a native to eastern America, southeastern Canada and eastern
United States.
Commercially it is produced in England and exported to other countries.
The plant of lobelia is annual or biennial herbaceous plant that grows
15 to 100 cm tall and the stems being covered with small hairs.
The leaves are ovate, toothed and about 8 cm long. The flowers are
violet-purple which blooms in summer.
Lobelia is widely cultivated in England as Samuel Johnson discovered it
here. The propagation is done through seeds.
