Euphrasia or eyebright is an herbal medicine that is being used by most
of the herbalist to treat the eye problems.
It is been used from centuries to cure the inflammation and other
related ailments of eyes. It also promotes the eye vision.
Eyebright plant is an annual shrub that grows upto height of one foot.
The leaves are oval and sometimes appear like lip shaped.
The flowers are arranged in a spike as the white petals have a red tinge
but having purple veined or yellow spot on the lower petal.
The flowers bloom from July to September. The stem of this plant is
erect and wiry, unbranched in all specimens or with many opposite
branches.
Usually this plant is cultivated in open grasslands and meadows around
the Europe.
Eyebright is abundantly found in throughout the Europe, Britain and
sub-arctic regions of North American continent.
Aerial parts such as roots, stem, leave and flowers.
Eyebright contains chemical constituents like iridoid glycoside,
tannins, phenolic acid, volatile oils, alkaloids and sterols.
